EV Go-Kart Fleet Maintenance System
RPM Raceway · Work Project · Feb 2025 – Present
● Live

Hands-on EV systems work maintaining a fleet of 60+ Sodi electric go-karts running 8–12 live sessions daily. DiagVCU v3.4 and Forsee Power diagnostic software on a Panasonic Toughbook to read motor controller faults, battery pack cell voltages, and transponder data. Zero-downtime discipline — faults diagnosed and resolved between sessions.

EV Battery Systems DiagVCU v3.4 Forsee Power Sodi RSX2.Li UART Diagnostics BMS Motor Controllers
The Job
Junior Mechanic at RPM Raceway — real kart fleet, real sessions, real consequences for downtime. Not a lab project.
What I Do
Pre-session battery checks, cell voltage logging, motor controller fault reads, transponder verification, brake and tire inspections.
Tech Stack
Panasonic Toughbook CF-33 · DiagVCU v3.4 (RSX2.Li) · Forsee Power Diagnostic Tool · UART serial · Multimeter · Hand tools.
The Challenge
8–12 live sessions daily means faults must be found and fixed in minutes — not hours. Standardized checklists, systematic approach, no guessing.
IoT Smart Energy Monitor
NYIT Senior Capstone · ETEC 495 · 2025–2026
Senior Capstone

Real-time energy monitor built on an ESP32 DEVKITV1. The PZEM-004T v3.0 measures AC voltage, current, watts, and kWh over UART. A 20×4 I2C LCD refreshes every 500ms. DS1307 RTC timestamps data to microSD, and ThingSpeak receives WiFi pushes every 15 seconds. Test result with 60W load: 118.3V · 0.48A · 56.7W — all within 5% of expected. Total build: $86.41.

ESP32 PZEM-004T v3.0 ACS712 30A 20×4 LCD I2C ThingSpeak DS1307 RTC C++ / Arduino WiFi
The Problem
Commercial smart monitors like the Sense cost $299+ with a subscription. Goal: sub-$90 open-source build with real AC metering and cloud logging.
Issues I Solved
Fried an ESP32 connecting 5V ACS712 to 3.3V ADC — rebuilt with fuse. CT clamp was on neutral wire (0A reading) — moved to live. LCD showed nothing — one missing I2C jumper.

Final
Safe Keypad System
4-digit combo lock (3-5-7-9), ISR multiplex display, OPEn flash. Timer 0 Mode 1 at ~1ms per digit.
2A
Binary Down Counter — Timer 0 Mode 1
16-bit timer, 200-cycle delay between counts, 7-seg LUT at 300H.
2B
Binary Down Counter — Timer 1 Mode 2
8-bit auto-reload. TH1 stores reload value — no software reload needed.
3
Countdown Timer with Interrupt
ISR at ORG 000BH. IE = 82H. Event-driven vs polling demonstration.
